_PAINLESS PROCEDURES

Technology and techniques are used to make the visits painless.

Equipment by Velopex International that makes use of air and water abrasion. Heat is not generated like conventional drilling and cavity preparation. Caries can be removed and cavities cleaned out without pain sensation and local injections!

Equipment by Ellmans using radio waves to perform cutting action of soft tissue. Patients report that there is no or very little sensitivity as well as no bleeding afterwards.

This is a Computerized electronic local anaesthetic pump that substitutes the use of the injection syringe for local anaesthesia. Effective and painless.

With the use of qualified Anaesthetists, they administer intravenous sedatives during dental procedures in the comfort of our own surgery. The patient is sedated and is not aware, nor does he or she remember anything that happened during the treatment.

Relative Analgesia is reached with Nitrous oxide. It has a slight pain killing effect and more importantly, it calms the patient down with the sedative effect which has a pleasing, drowsy sensation. Some patients really feel like laughing when it is administered, therefore it is called laughing gas.

A new trend to improve the standard and finish of the work done in the mouth, is to use magnification. A microscope enlarges the object(tooth) to such an extent that the finest detail and finishes can be identified and adjusted.

The BriteSmile LED light technology, combined with the wavelength-specific gentle bleaching gel, have resulted in a revolutionary method of teeth whitening that is quick, safe and effective. For more information visit www.britesmile.co.za or call Christa on 072 1544 448 or 12smile at

One of life’s minor discomforts-to have dental X-rays taken- is getting more pleasant!

At 12smile we have installed digital X-ray equipment, to eliminate the need for you as patient to bite down on sharp swatches of film (while fighting the impulse to gag) and to wait while the shots are developed.
With the digital method, we glide a small sensor inside your mouth and the images instantly pop up on the computer screen in the surgery room. The digital images which look similar to traditional X-rays, can then be enlarged and manipulated.

Patients say they can more easily understand a treatment recommendation because they get a good look at the problem blown up on the screen in front of them, rather than having to squint at a postage-stamp-size shot held up to the light.

The intraoral camera enables you as patient to get a closer view on what is happening inside your mouth. This is a great toy that the dentist and oral hygienist uses to show their pride in the treatment that they have performed.

What a great experience!! Now you can relax and catch up on your favourite soapie that you’ve missed or enjoy sports, movies or even cartoons while your treatment is carried out in the dental chair. The iTheatre virtual glasses is very compact, comfortable and easy to use and the patients just love it!

At 12smile we strive to give you the best service, that is why we are using wireless telephone headsets to professionally assist in the practice but also over the phone.
